Originally published in January 2008, the 17th Edition of the IEE wiring regulations became a legal requirement in July 2008. The new edition contains updates to the current standard, to which all domestic and commercial wiring must meet. In addition to the new information there has had to be amendments to the regulation to allow it to conform with European documents.

This change will affect many people. From those designing new electrical products to people looking to gain professional qualifications. For those who are currently qualified electricians it is also a requirement to pass this exam in order to stay legal. Without gaining the 17th edition qualification then it is not possible for an electrician to stay in business.
